This evening we had the third House Competition of the year, the Pumpkin Carving!! Well done to Rayaan for his fantastic work and spirit. Happy Halloween to all!!
With a new half term, we have started discussing the new topic on our Well Being Program. This is a special one that we do take very seriously as an international school. We have covered what we consider bullying and diversity to be and we were happy to see that the boys think that bullying is not a major problem in our school which is quite reassuring to hear.
Over the next weeks we will deepen our dialogue on this and explore what diversity has to offer and how can we promote that as an important and positive part of our lives here at CDL.
The Léman 2 boys gathered this afternoon for the last well-being session before the October break.
The first part of the session was recapping from the session a couple of weeks ago – the boys shared their current exercise habits and wrote down targets for their future sport and activity participation. We will get together again after the break and review these goals. We have been very impressed with the current amount of sport and exercise that the boys do and the fact they are very motivated to do even more and achieve their newly set targets, is a fantastic thing to see.
When relaxing, a lot of the boys will still be on their phones or watching movies. We would like to encourage more effective methods of relaxation, for example, breathing techniques, meditation, reading, sport or listening to music. In addition to this we showed the boys a short mediation disk to give them an idea on how they can effectively relax / relieve stress. The boys responded positively and we will continue to encourage this. Some of the benefits of meditation include:
Enjoying the last rays of sun in a beautiful autumn afternoon… that was the leitmotiv for our Well-being period this week. Better than talking about exercise, healthy habits and sleeping patterns, we enjoyed the beautiful Versoix woods for a walk where we had nice chats and the camaraderie between the boys was visible. This walk, runs along a little water stream and took us to a part of Versoix that some of the boys had never explored.
Exercise, fresh pure air, bonding together… all part of our Well-Being.
